With the Plug-&-Play MicroSD/SD memory card, you can now simply insert it into your compatible Garmin GPS unit and off you go... No need to load the maps onto a computer first, no unlocking procedures, no MapSource needed. Of course, to load the maps onto your computer is just as easy, simply run the executable file directly from the memory card (Note: The MapSource program is still required on your PC - See below).

Tracks4Africa is the leading light in GPS-assisted travel in Africa. They are the custodians of a huge repository of tracks and waypoints which they use to create the most accurate and up-to-date digital GPS maps available: T4A Maps. Their digital maps can be uploaded to map-capable Garmin GPS receivers, PDA's or Pocket PC's. Currently they have in the 'T4A data vaults' 5,000,000km GPS tracks recordings and 90,000 waypoints.

The T4A community is a group of enthusiastic and responsible African bundu bashers using Garmin GPS receivers tracking the 4x4 routes and off-road tracks throughout the African continent. Members of T4A send these tracks in to a central repository where the digital tracks are cleaned up and then redistributed back into the community. These accurate GPS maps are also available to the public at a nominal fee.

Tracks4Africa provides you with alternative geographic 4D GPS mapping data that can be viewed on your PC using Garmin's MapSource mapping software. These GPS maps can be uploaded to your compatible Garmin GPS receiver to supplement your unit's existing streetmaps data to improve route planning and navigation safety.

The T4A Maps is NOT a city navigator and it is NOT an auto-routable map. The T4A Maps is NOT an ‘atlas of roads’. In fact, it may not even cover 3% of all navigable road/tracks in its coverage area BUT it covers 98% of the ‘roads travelled’.

The T4A Map is NOT about roads, it is about DESTINATIONS and it is about attention to detail but mostly it is about INFORMATION. Strictly speaking it is NOT a map. It is the collective navigational experience of Data Members of the T4A Data Community on countless leisure trips to eco-destinations into remote and eco-sensitive Africa and no two travel experiences are the same.

The T4A map is constructed ONLY/STRICTLY from GPS recorded/confirmed data and data submissions must comply with T4A quality standards. The road lines on the T4A Map are spatially averaged from many independent GPS recordings. This makes the T4A Map super accurate, reliable and unique.

The T4A map is a GPS map constructed by travelers for travelers, people who are serious about travel safety and more serious about the environment.

The ultimate aim is to provide high quality GPS maps with the focus on non urban areas especially 4x4 routes and off-road tracks to the remote areas of Africa. Tracks4Africa welcomes contributions of track logs, waypoints and POI's from both members and non-members. Contributors qualify for a free set of GPS maps for the area they have mapped.

Please Note: The Garmin proprietary MapSource map viewing program is needed to view and use the T4A maps. The MapSource program is usually included when you purchase any Garmin map-enabled GPS unit together with the Garmin/Garmap map software. If you do not have the MapSource program, you will need to purchase the Garmin Trip and Waypoint Manager CD to get it. Updates of the MapSource program are available for free on the Garmin.com website but you will need an original installation of this program on your PC for these updates to work.

Using MapSource, you can:
• Transfer saved waypoints, routes, and tracks from your GPS device and save them to your PC.
• Create, view, and edit waypoints, routes, and tracks.
• Find items, addresses, and Points of Interest included in the map data (pro version only).
• Transfer map data, waypoints, routes, and tracks to your Garmin GPS device.

T4A Maps Pro Upgrade Policy:

T4A Maps Pro is released three times per year, February, June and October. The version number corresponds to the year and the month, e.g. 2006 Feb translates to 6.02 and 2009 Oct translates to 9.10 and so on.

If you purchase this T4A maps Plug-&-Play MicroSD/SD Card the following next upgrade will be available free of charge. The upgrade will only be available as an electronic copy. An e-mail is sent to everyone eligible for an upgrade and on this e-mail download links for the relevant maps are provided.
